ATONEMENT SOPHOMORE WINS SECOND PLACE!
On Sunday, February 12, Atonement Academy sophomore Ruthanne Reiley was awarded the 2nd Grand Prize in the Physical Science Section (Senior Division) at the Alamo Regional Junior Academy of Science. This competition involves the students making oral and slide-show presentations of their science fair projects to the judges and answering follow-up questions. Ruthanne presented her project: "Remote, Off-grid, Sustainable Energy: Maximizing Primary Power Source Rejuvenation." For the layperson, it’s about a way that Ruthanne has come up with to re-charge batteries by capturing the energy of human walking. She will present this project formally at the Alamo Regional Science and Engineering Fair at St. Mary's University on March 4th-6th. Ruthanne is pictured here with her Atonement faculty member, Dr. Michael Vallor and the competition director, Mrs. Perez.
